On Thursday, February 5, Seattle Sounders FC unveiled its new primary jersey, Forever Green, as part of Major League Soccerâs Forward 25 event in New York City, celebrating the leagueâs 25th season.

The name Forever Green pays homage to the clubâs commitment to sustainability and making a positive impact on the environment.
Additionally, the wave elements on the front of the jersey symbolize the clubâs respect for the waters of Puget Sound, while the Cascadian Flag and silhouette of Washington State are nods to the clubâs deep ties to the region.

Last year, Sounders FC became the first professional sports team in the United States to become carbon neutral. Certain elements operating a professional sports team, like team travel and international scouting, make it impossible to truly eliminate all greenhouse gas emissions.
So, in February of 2019, the club planted 370 trees to offset the previous yearâs carbon emissions. This month, a mixture of front office staff, coaches, players, local middle school students and volunteers will plant over 450 trees along the Green-Duwamish River to offset last yearâs carbon footprint.
