Four Seattle Sounders players have been selected to 40-man provisional rosters for the 2019 Gold Cup, as released by Concacaf on Monday. Defender Román Torres (Panama), midfielders Jordy Delem (Martinique) and Cristian Roldan (United States) and forward Jordan Morris (United States) were among 78 MLS players to be named to preliminary squads. The final 23-man squads will be determined in early June.

Torres, 33, reached hero status in October 2017 when his stoppage-time goal in World Cup Qualifying sent Panama to its first World Cup appearance. The Panamanian captain has made over 100 international appearances since his debut in 2005.

Delem, 26, has made nearly 40 appearances for Martinique over the past seven years. The defensive midfielder also filled in admirably for the Rave Green the past couple weeks as Gustav Svensson recovers from an injury.

Roldan, 23, looks to make his first Gold Cup roster for the Stars and Stripes. After earning his first cap in 2017, the reliable, versatile midfielder has made four international appearances in each of the past two years. He’s also been in top form for the Sounders this season.

Morris, 24, aims to return to the Gold Cup after scoring the winning goal for the United States in the title match two years ago. Morris has 27 caps since making his debut as a college student in 2014, but he suffered a hamstring strain last Wednesday against Orlando City SC, so it remains to be seen if he will be healthy enough for selection by next month.
