Vargas and El Tri began their journey in Group C at the FIFA U-20 World Cup with a thrilling 2-2 draw against Brazil on Sunday. Operating in a box-to-box midfield role, Vargas put in a fantastic shift for Mexico, completing 33/34 passes with five final third entries and two chances created. On the defensive side, he compiled two tackles, two interceptions and two recoveries while winning 5/8 duels.
