Following the team’s 2-1 Decision Day win over New York City FC on Saturday night at Citi Field, Seattle Sounders defender Jackson Ragen was named to MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 39.
The center back earned a Starting XI spot for the league’s weekly honors following his game-winning goal in the 87th minute of the match.
Tied at 1-1 with minutes left to spare, midfielder Danny Leyva distributed a perfectly placed corner kick into the box for Ragen to head toward the far post of the net to give the Sounders the lead and ultimatley come away with a win in their final fixture of the regular season.
Additionally, Ragen came up big on defense with three blocks, 14 clearances, and five recoveries. He also completed 54 of his 58 attempted passes, finishing his 90 minutes on the pitch with a passing accuracy rate of 93%.
The Sounders return to action on Monday Oct. 27 when they face Minnesota United in the first match of the Round One, best-of-three series at Allianz Field (6 p.m. PT; MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).
