Jordan Morris logs 30 minutes in United States’ friendly win over Cuba

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris entered as a substitute in the 60th minute of the United States’ 2-0 friendly win over Cuba in Havana on Friday.


Morris replaced Bobby Wood and logged 30 minutes for head coach Jurgen Klinsmann. Two minutes later, San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski opened the scoring for the U.S. Bayern Munich’s Julian Green added the insurance tally in the 71st minute.



The United States will take on New Zealand in another friendly at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 11. It is still to be determined whether Morris will be released early and return to Seattle in order to play in the Sounders’ home game against the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday, Oct. 12 (7:30 p.m. PT; JOEtv, KIRO Radio 97.3FM, El Rey 1360AM).


Morris earned his 12th international cap on Sunday. He is one of five Sounders on national team duty during the international break. Midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro scored on a diving header in Uruguay’s 3-0 win over Venezuela in CONMEBOL 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying on Thursday.
