FINAL PRE-WORLD CUP MATCH: Sunday will mark the Sounders’ last MLS match before the league breaks for six weeks for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Seattle will return to domestic action on July 16 with a huge home date against the rival Portland Timbers.
STREAKS SNAPPED: Seattle will look to rebound after dropping a 2-0 result to the LA Galaxy last weekend, a loss that ended the Sounders’ nine-match MLS unbeaten run and 22-match home unbeaten streak.
GOMEZ DEBUTS: Academy product Sebastian Gomez came on in the 76th minute against the Galaxy to make his MLS debut. He signed a First Team contract in January after spending two seasons with MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Tacoma Defiance.

LLORIS INJURED: LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris missed his team’s match against Nashville SC last weekend with an undisclosed leg injury. The 39-year-old Frenchman helped LAFC set an MLS record with six consecutive clean sheets to start this season.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Son Heung-Min, F
Son leads MLS with nine assists this season, playing much more of a facilitator role for Denis Bouanga and David Martínez. The South Korean international has surprisingly yet to score himself through 12 games, and his -3.70 Goals-Expected Goals mark is the second-worst finishing clip in the league.
