BRIDGEVIEW, Illinois – Sounders FC makes its first visit to Toyota Park since 2012 to face the Chicago Fire on Saturday and Seattle Head Coach Sigi Schmid opted to start all three of his former Fire players against their former club.
Jalil Anibaba (2011-2013), Chad Barrett (2005-2008) and Marco Pappa (2008-2012) all are in Schmid's starting 11 as Seattle looks to go into the World Cup break on a high note.
Stefan Frei will start in goal after posting his fourth shutout of the season last week against Real Salt Lake behind a back four of Brad Evans on the right, Leo Gonzalez on the left and a central pairing of Anibaba and Chad Marshall.
The midfield remains consistent from the past few weeks with Pappa and Lamar Neagle flanking Osvaldo Alonso and Gonzalo Pineda.
At forward, Barrett, who has scored in two straight matches, starts along with Obafemi Martins, a finalist for Etihad Airways MLS Player of the Month after notching three goals and two assists to help Seattle to a 4-1-1 record in May.
On the bench for Seattle are Marcus Hahnemann, Zach Scott, Micheal Azira, Aaron Kovar, Sean Okoli, Kenny Cooper and Cam Weaver.
Sounders FC XI – Frei; Evans, Anibaba, Marshall, Gonzalez; Neagle, Alonso, Pineda, Pappa; Martins, Barrett.
