Match Profile: Sounders FC 1, FC Dallas 3

Lamar Neagle 0924

Score: Sounders FC 1 vs. FC Dallas 3
Site: Toyota Stadium
Records: Sounders FC (17-9-3, 54 points). FC Dallas (14-10-6, 48 points).

Man of the Match: Lamar Neagle scored just one minute after entering the match, catching Raul Fernandez by surprise with his blistering right-footed attempt from 20 yards out. It was Neagle’s seventh goal of the season, giving him two goals and two assists in the last four matches.

Telling Stat: David Texeira has just three goals this season and all of them came against Sounders FC, as the Uruguayan forward netted two goals Wednesday night. After allowing a hat trick by Bradley Wright-Phillips on Saturday, Seattle again allowed a multi-goal game from an opposing forward on Wednesday, giving opposing players seven multi-goal games this season.

What You Missed: Wednesday marked Zach Scott’s 300th match as a Sounder. Dating back to 2002 in the A-League era when he made his debut, Scott has seen the ups and downs of the club at two different levels. After gritting out a gutsy performance in a 3-1 extra-time win over Philadelphia in the U.S. Open Cup final last week for his 299th game, Scott suffered an ankle injury on Wednesday that forced him out of the match in the 38th minute.

So What: Seattle lost two consecutive matches for just the second time this season, yet the Sounders retain the top spot in the Supporters’ Shield standings. Sounders FC has now played the same number of matches as the LA Galaxy, which is even on points but trails in the tie-breaker of total wins. The Sounders will return home to face Chivas USA on Saturday, concluding a stretch of five matches in 16 days.
