MATCH RECAP: Sounders FC Cruises to 3-0 Road Win Over New England on Saturday Night at Gillette Stadium

FOXBOROUGH, MASS. – Sounders FC (11-9-8, 41 points) defeated the New England Revolution (14-10-4, 46 points) 3-0 on Saturday at Gillette Stadium. Hassani Dotson, Dejan Joveljić and Paul Arriola scored for the visitors, as Seattle extended its winning streak to four games and its unbeaten run to nine matches (4-0-5). Brian Schmetzer’s side continues its two-match road trip with a visit to FC Dallas on Wednesday, October 14 at Toyota Stadium (5:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

MATCH NOTES

  • With the result, Seattle sits in seventh place in the Western Conference at time of writing with 41 points (11-9-8)
  • The result extends Seattle’s unbeaten streak to nine matches (4-0-5).
  • Hassani Dotson’s goal in the 15th minute was his third of the season, all in MLS play. Dotson joined Seattle as a free agent in the offseason.
  • Dejan Joveljić’s goal in the 74th minute was his fourth of the season for Seattle and 12th in MLS this year, scoring eight goals for Sporting Kansas City before being acquired by Seattle in August.
  • Paul Arriola’s goal marked his fifth of the season in all competitions, tied for third on the team. He also assisted on Joveljić’s strike, his third of year in all competitions.

  • Moments after coming on a substitute in the 80th minute, Jesús Ferreira assisted Arriola’s strike, his seventh of the season in all competitions, tied for second on the team. It was Ferreira’s first appearance since August 16 due to a hamstring injury.
  • Andrew Thomas recorded his eighth shutout of the season, tied for fifth in MLS.
  • Saturday marked the 16th meeting between the two sides in the regular season, with Seattle leading the series 6-5-5. Tonight marked the first time in eight years and 95 days that Seattle has visited New England, the second-longest stretch between visiting the same team in club history (Red Bull New York, eight years and 119 days from June 13, 2018 to present). The longest stretch in MLS history is held by Atlanta United FC, who went eight years and 141 days between visits to Minnesota United FC.
  • Tonight’s victory marked the 100th regular-season road win for Seattle since it joined MLS in 2009, the most road victories of any team in that span.
  • Yeimar Gómez Andrade made his first start since March 7 at St. Louis as he’s been dealing with a calf injury. He came on as a substitute in Seattle’s previous two wins.
