SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC (7-9-5, 26 points) drew 2-2 with Chicago Fire FC (11-6-4, 37 points) on Saturday afternoon at Lumen Field. Dejan Joveljić scored both goals for the Rave Green in his debut, becoming the first Sounder since Fredy Montero in 2009 to bag a brace in his first career game. Joveljić was acquired from Sporting Kansas City on Tuesday. Brian Schmetzer’s side stays at home to host Red Bull New York on Saturday, September 5 (5:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

- Forward Dejan Joveljić made his Sounders FC debut this afternoon after being acquired by Sporting Kansas City on Tuesday. The Serbian international recorded 107 all-competition goals in his professional career prior to joining the club.
- Joveljić scored his debut goal for the club in the 12th minute, with his second strike coming in the 48th minute, his ninth and tenth of the season including his time at Sporting Kansas City.
- Joveljić’s became the second player to score a brace in his debut, joining Fredy Montero who did it in Seattle’s first-ever game in MLS on March 19, 2009. He also becomes the fastest player in club history to score a brace in his debut, with his second goal coming in the 48th minute.
- Sebastain Gomez and Kalani Kossa-Rienzi assisted Joveljić’s goal, both their second in all competitions this season. It was also Gomez’s first career MLS assist. Albert Rusnák and Snyder Brunell provided assists on Jovelić’s second goal, Rusnák’s team-leading eighth in all competitions and Brunell’s second.
- Saturday was the 18th meeting between the two sides dating back to 2009 in the regular season, with Seattle leading the series 10-4-5, including an unbeaten 6-0-2 mark at home. The Rave Green also defeated Chicago in the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final at Lumen Field on October 4, 2011.
- Cristian Roldan entered the game in the 57th minute, his first action May 24. Roldan was dealing with a quad injury he suffered during FIFA World Cup 2026™ while with the United States Men’s National Team.
- Jordan Morris and Hassani Dotson also made substitute appearances in the 69th minute, their first action since July 16 and July 25, respectively.
