James Riley and Steve Zakuani connect with supporters club Gorilla FC to raise money for Doctors Without Borders at George and Dragon Pub in Seattle.

SEATTLE - With the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti, Sounders FC midfielder Steve Zakuani and defender James Riley, George & Dragon and Gorilla FC are hosting a benefit for the Port-au-Prince victims at the classic football pub located in Fremont on Saturday, January 23 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.  The earthquake has hit our neighborly nation that is already fighting economic instability and political chaos for decades.

"I was watching CNN and almost cried when I saw some of the images of bodies lying under collapsed buildings, and of guys lying unconscious while family members wept over them.  That was very moving and I wanted to be a part of something, no matter how big or small, that can help these people and their country,” Zakuani said.  “Tragedies like this put life in its proper perspective and so I'm hoping we can raise a decent amount of money that can benefit Haiti.

Zakuani and Riley will be signing autographs and taking pictures to raise money for Haiti. There is a suggested donation of $5 for autographs and pictures with the Sounders players.  George & Dragon will also be collecting a $5 suggested door fee.  Gorilla FC will be raffling autographed Sounders FC gear, used Zakuani shoes, gift certificates and more items.  Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket with all money going to Haiti.

All proceeds will benefit the Doctors Without Borders.

George & Dragon will be showing the USA-Honduras game starting at 6.

The People of Haiti Need our Help
The Red Cross federation estimates that 45,000-50,000 people have been killed in the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated the island country of Haiti on January 12, 2010. Haitian officials have said the death toll could top 100,000. Major League Soccer teams, players and owners are making contributions to organizations that are providing comprehensive aid to the disaster relief effort.

Doctors Without Borders
MSF has been working in Haiti for 19 years, most recently operating three emergency hospitals in Port-au-Prince, and is mobilizing a large emergency response to this disaster. Our immediate response in the first hours following the disaster in Haiti was only possible because of private unrestricted donations from around the world received before the earthquake struck. We are currently reinforcing our teams on the ground in order to respond to the immediate medical needs and to assess the humanitarian needs that MSF will be addressing in the months ahead.

They are now asking donors to give to their Emergency Relief Fund. These types of funds ensure that their medical teams can react to the Haiti emergency and humanitarian crises all over the world, particularly neglected crises that remain outside the media spotlight. Your gift via this website will be earmarked for our Emergency Relief Fund.

Save the Children
Sounders FC charity partner, Save the Children, has launched an emergency relief effort to assist children and families in Haiti in the aftermath of a major 7.0-magnitude earthquake near the capital city of Port-au-Prince. Save The Children, is on the ground providing lifesaving assistance, such as food, water, shelter and child-friendly space.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is working with its partners in the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network, including the Haitian Red Cross, and other partners to assist those affected by this disaster.

Your gift to the American Red Cross will support emergency relief and recovery efforts to help those people affected by the earthquake in Haiti. Assistance provided by the American Red Cross may include sending relief supplies, mobilizing relief workers and providing financial resources and recovery.
