FORM GUIDE (all competitions, most recent first): Seattle: LWWDW, Portland: DWWLW

PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders and Timbers played to a 1-1 draw at Lumen Field in Seattle on Oct. 19, 2024. Yeimar opened the scoring for the Sounders in the 37th minute before Antony helped the visitors go home with a point with a tally in the 68th minute.

ROAD TRIP ENDS: The Sounders will finish their second three-match road trip of the early part of the season with their date in Portland on Saturday. Seattle defeated the Dynamo in Houston last weekend before falling in Los Angeles to LAFC midweek.

WELCOMED REST: Because of their three matches in eight days, Head Coach Brian Schmetzer opted to rotate most of his starters from the weekend when the Sounders faced LAFC on Wednesday evening. Starting XI mainstays Cristian Roldan, Stefan Frei, Obed Vargas and Alex Roldan all got the night off, while Danny Musovski, Albert Rusnák, Ryan Kent and Kim Kee-Hee made substitute appearances.

DE ROSARIO, HAWKINS EARN MILESTONES: Forward Osaze De Rosario, who the Sounders signed from MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Tacoma Defiance on May 8, earned his first Major League Soccer start midweek. Homegrown defender Stuart Hawkins, who signed his MLS contract as a 16-year-old in September 2023, made his MLS debut in a second-half cameo.

EVANDER BLOCKBUSTER: Portland made headlines this offseason when it sold Designated Player Evander to FC Cincinnati in a cash-for-player trade worth $12 million. The 26-year-old Brazilian was a 2024 MLS Best XI player and a finalist for MLS MVP. In two seasons with the Timbers, Evander recorded 24 goals and 24 assists in 55 MLS regular-season appearances.

COMING IN HOT: The Timbers enter this weekend with just one loss in their last 10 MLS regular season matches (5-1-4) and have posted back-to-back clean sheets.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Antony, F

Filling Evander’s shoes is no easy task, but his countryman has been doing his best impression. The 23-year-old has four goals and seven assists this season, the latter of which is tied for second in M
