PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders drew the Timbers 1-1 at CenturyLink Field on August 27, 2017.

100TH MEETING: Sunday's meeting will be the 100th all-time match between the two clubs, with the Sounders holding the 50-35-14 advantage.


ON A ROLL-DAN: Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan has scored in three of the last four matches against the Timbers.


NICO'S INJURY: Midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro once again missed the match against Toronto FC. It is unknown whether he will play against the Timbers.


FORMATION CHANGE: In a memorable 2-1 win against Toronto FC at BMO Field on Wednesday, the Sounders deployed a 5-4-1 formation that featured three center backs.


BWANA BONANZA: Rookie midfielder Handwalla Bwanascored his first career goal in the second half against Toronto. He became the youngest player in club history to record a goal.

TIMBERS ON FIRE: The Timbers have won three consecutive matches since April 14, including a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.


DEUCE ALMIGHTY: Clint Dempsey has a knack for stepping up against the club's biggest rival, scoring more goals against the Timbers than any other team in the league. He has nine goals against Portland, including a hat trick at Providence Park.


BUSY WEEK: Sunday's match marks the third of three matches in a busy nine-day stretch for the Sounders. Last Saturday, the Rave Green played the Crew at home to a 0-0 draw before beating Toronto. Dempsey, midfielder Ozzie Alonso and defender Kim Kee-hee should be well rested after sitting out on Wednesday.
