The Seattle Sounders drew San Diego FC 1-1 on Saturday evening at Lumen Field. Marcus Ingvartsen opened the scoring for the visitors in the first half before Danny Musovski leveled the match late in the second half.

The Sounders dominated the opening 15 minutes, peppering San Diego in its final third with a bunch of half-chances including a Snyder Brunell effort that skied over the crossbar and a penalty shout on a Nouhou run into the box.

San Diego broke the deadlock completely against the run of play in the 18th minute when Onni Valakari slipped in Ingvartsen on the right side, and the Dane deposited the ball into the far corner past goalkeeper Andrew Thomas.

Thomas was called upon again in the 22nd minute when he made a fantastic diving stop on a header Amahl Pellegrino.

The Sounders thought they had tied the match in the 31st minute when Jordan Morris was played through in behind and found the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Brunell had another great opportunity four minutes into the second half when his shot from a tight angle on the right side skipped just outside the far post.

The Sounders and San Diego traded half-chances over the next 20 minutes before a Morris cross from the end line was blocked away followed by Cristian Roldan’s half-volley from inside the area being deflected out for a corner.

Morris then back-heeled a pass from the end line to the center of the box for Musovski, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Duran Ferree.

Seattle’s best chance to equalize in the 79th minute when Morris dropped a pass for Musovski, whose shot hit the post.

Seconds later, Albert Rusnák slipped in Musovski, whose shot was saved by a ridiculous stop from Ferree before Jesús Ferreira’s header was deflected wide for a corner.

On the ensuing corner, Roldan redirected a near-post cross to the center of the goal where Musovski finally found the back of the net.

San Diego nearly retook the lead in the 82nd minute when Ingvartsen rose for a header that hit the outside of the far post and went wide to safety.

San Diego almost won the match in the fifth minute of stoppage time when reigning MLS Newcomer of the Year Anders Dreyer had a wide-open shot from 12 yards out, but Thomas made an incredible reaction save to deny him. Ingvartsen then sent his rebounded effort over the crossbar.

The Sounders run their MLS unbeaten run to eight games (5-0-3) and finish the match fourth in the Western Conference with 21 points from 10 contests. San Diego, meanwhile, remains winless in the league since early March and extends its winless streak to nine matches.
