The Seattle Sounders defeated FC Dallas 2-1 at Lumen Field on Saturday night behind goals from Jesús Ferreira and Jordan Morris. Nolan Norris got on the score sheet for the visitors.

Santiago Moreno had the game’s first chance in the sixth minute when he had a look from close range on the right side of the box, but his effort was straight at Sounders goalkeeper Andrew Thomas.

After spending the majority of the first 15 minutes in their own defensive third, the Sounders opened the scoring against the run of play when Morris slipped a pass from the right wing into the feet of Ferreira, who took a touch before firing a deflected shot that beat goalkeeper Michael Collodi.

Danny Musovski nearly doubled the lead three minutes later when his contested header from the six-yard box was saved by Collodi.

The Sounders took a two-goal lead in the 30th minute when Snyder Brunell played a beautifully weighted through ball for Morris in behind the Dallas defense. The Mercer Island native drew Collodi out of goal before poking an outside-of-the-foot shot to the far post.

Nicholas Simmonds had a left-footed strike outside the box in the 37th minute, but Thomas got down easily to collect it.

Kalani Kossa-Rienzi was robbed of a goal in the 39th minute after an outrageous reaction save from Collodi from six yards out.

FC Dallas halved the deficit in the 40th minute when Norris flicked a near-post header on a corner into the far corner.

Thomas made a ridiculous save of his own in the second minute of first-half stoppage time when he dove and pawed away an effort from Patrickson Delgado from 20 yards out that took a wicked deflection.

Paul Rothrock made an incredible marauding run down the left wing in the 52nd minute, nutmegging Lalas Abubakar before being fouled in the box to earn a penalty. Dallas escaped unscathed, though, as Collodi denied Ferreira from the penalty spot.

The Sounders slowed the match down over the remainder of the second half, keeping possession while mitigating any real danger from the Dallas attack.

Seattle improves to 6-1-1 to start the year and finishes the evening fourth in the Western Conference with 19 points.

The Sounders will visit Sporting Kansas City next Saturday (11:30 a.m. PT; FOX, Apple TV), their lone away game before returning to Lumen Field for three more consecutive matches.

THREE TAKEAWAYS

Ferreira burns former team

The former Dallas Homegrown withheld a celebration after scoring against his old club. The United States international, who leads the Sounders with five MLS assists already this season, nabbed his first goal of the season.

Morris opens 2026 account

After missing the first month of the year following an early quad injury in the season-opener, Morris bagged his first goal of 2026 and 72nd in his illustrious Sounders career.

Dominating Dallas

The Sounders extended their recent series control over FC Dallas, moving to 7-1-3 in their last 11 meetings in all competitions. Dallas has also not won at Lumen Field since 2011.
