Former Jordan Morris teammate Brian Nana-Sinkam hopeful he can join Morris and Cristian Roldan’s friendship

The most publicized and celebrated friendship in Major League Soccer may be expanding.

It’s no secret that Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Cristian Roldan are close friends. They do everything together. Three nights a week, Roldan goes to the Morris household on Mercer Island where Mrs. Morris cooks them dinner. The two even watched the second leg of the Eastern Conference Championship together.

The Sounders selected Morris’ former Stanford teammate and good friend Brian Nana-Sinkam in the first round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, though, adding more friends into the mix. He and Morris were in the same college class and lived next to each other in the dorms.

“We were very, very tight,” Morris said, and his influence on the technical staff went a long way in Seattle’s selection of Nana-Sinkam. Roldan is happy with the Sounders’ acquisition and is eager to befriend Nana-Sinkam as well.

“There’s room for a lot of close buddies,” Roldan said. “That just helps the team with chemistry.”

Roldan and Nana-Sinkam battled for two years in college when Roldan was at the University of Washington. Nana-Sinkam said that on the field he and Roldan were enemies, but off the field he’s the nicest guy.

“If [Roldan] is a friend of Jordan’s, he’s a friend of mine,” Nana-Sinkam said. He then quipped: “Hopefully there’s room for one more. I’m gonna try and bust into that little posse, that little clique and see if I can get in there.”

As for what Roldan thinks of Nana-Sinkam’s plan?

“I’m OK with that,” Roldan said, “as long as I keep getting invited.”
