Seattle Sounders will tie longest regular-season win streak in MLS post-shootout history with win at Vancouver

The Seattle Sounders have a chance to match Major League Soccer history on Saturday when they visit the Vancouver Whitecaps (7 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Seattle could become the first team to win nine consecutive regular-season matches since … Seattle did it just last summer. The Sounders won nine consecutive matches from July 21, 2018 - Sept. 15, 2018. After dropping the next two matches, the Sounders rattled off five straight wins to end the 2018 regular season.

After starting 2019 with three wins in a row, Seattle can match that nine-match streak, which is the longest in MLS history in the post-shootout era. Sporting Kansas City is the only other team in the post-shootout era to win nine matches in a row, when they did so over a two-season span from Oct. 15, 2011 – April 18, 2012.

The Sounders strung together the best half-season in MLS history last year, going 14-2-1 to end the regular season. Seattle has won 17 of its 19 regular-season matches and is 18-3-1 in its last 22 matches in all competitions.
