- Seattle announced the acquisition of striker and Designated Player Dejan Joveljić from Sporting Kansas City on Tuesday. The Serbian international has scored 47 goals in MLS since the beginning of 2024, helping the LA Galaxy win the 2024 MLS Cup.
- Joveljić's 39 goals from 2024-2025 in the regular season and playoffs are third in all of MLS behind only Lionel Messi and Denis Bouanga.
- Seattle is coming off a 1-1 road draw with FC Cincinnati, with Kalani Kossa-Rienzi scoring his third goal of the season.
- Sounders FC currently sits in 13th place in the Western Conference with 25 points (7-9-4). Chicago is in third in the East with 36 points (11-6-3).
- Saturday will only be the 19th meeting between the two sides, with Seattle leading the regular season series 10-4-4, including one match at a neutral site during the MLS is Back tournament.
