Kickoff at 7:30 p.m. PT on September 27.
MÜLLER TIME: Thomas Müller has hit the ground running in Vancouver since arriving late this summer after nearly two decades with Bayern Munich. The 36-year-old German legend has four goals and an assist in just over 200 MLS minutes.
DOMINANT ON BOTH ENDS: Vancouver boasts the stingiest defense in MLS this year, having conceded just 31 times in 29 matches. The ‘Caps have also scored 56 goals, which is tied for second in the Western Conference. Their plus-25 Goal Difference is first in the league.
RECORD SEASON: It’s been a banner year so far for Vancouver, which has already set a club record for points (55) with five matches remaining. The Whitecaps have also tied their club record for wins (16) and set new club records for MLS goals scored (56) and goals scored in all competitions (80).
PLAYER TO WATCH: Tristan Blackmon, D
With many key attacking pieces out for the ‘Caps (Brian White – hamstring, Ryan Gauld – knee, Thomas Müller – adductor, day-to-day), the onus will fall on Blackmon and the back line to put in a good shift on the road in Seattle. The 29-year-old is having a breakout season, earning both his first MLS All-Star Game nod as well as international cap with the United States. As a center back on the team with the league’s best defensive record, he’s a likely frontrunner for MLS Defender of the Year.
