Seattle Sounders eMLS athlete George Adamou left his mark in Washington D.C. after coming out victorious in the 2023 MLS All-Star Challenge.

“It was amazing,” said Adamou. “I'm very thankful that I got the opportunity.”

The MLS held its 4th annual eMLS All-Star tournament on July 16 where influencers, musicians, pro athletes and amateur gamers teamed up with professional players like Adamou to compete in a 2v2 challenge. Adamou was paired up with Twitch streamer and Youtuber Castro.

“The fact that I was partnered up with one of the biggest creators in probably the whole FIFA community was a great experience,” said Adamou.

With the support from Castro, Adamou solidified the Sounders first-ever trophy in the All-Star Challenge.

And he did it seamlessly.

“[Castro and I] both know the game well, so it was very smooth,” said Adamou. “We were feeding off each other, building off each other every time we would score, we would celebrate together, and the communication was great.”

Prominent figures like former NFL football player Chad Ochocinco and D.C. native and rapper Wale put up a fight with their eMLS professional athlete counterparts, but they were no match to Castro and Adamou as they closed out the tournament in dominant form.

“We were competitive, but we were also having a lot of fun with it,” said Adamou. “We ended up losing the first game, the second game we took it to penalties giving us a lifeline, and the third one, we decided that we were mentality monsters and we were going to take it home.”

Adamou has had a vast amount of success since his 2020 debut as a professional FIFA player, and his latest championship title at All-Star week has inspired him to reach even greater heights within the eSports soccer community, all while representing the Sounders organization along the way.

“We're going to keep winning trophies,” said Adamou. “I have a 2v2 trophy, I have an eMLS All-Star [Challenge] trophy now, and an eMLS Cup trophy, so, I completed basically everything there is to do and now I want to represent the Sounders on a global stage and hopefully win a trophy for them outside of [North] America.”
