Sounders FC celebrates Fan Appreciation Day at this Saturday's match vs. Vancouver

Following a pivotal 2-1 victory over the LA Galaxy on Wednesday evening, Sounders FC remains home on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field this Saturday, facing Cascadia rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV – Watch Free, 950 KJR AM, SiriusXM FC, El Rey 1360 AM). The game marks the final home match of the 2023 regular season for Seattle, with the club next traveling to St. Louis for a Decision Day battle on October 21 before the Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs. Sounders FC clinched a playoff position with their win earlier in the week, with final seeding to be determined following Decision Day.

Saturday’s match, presented by matchday sponsor Providence, sees the Rave Green celebrating their loyal fans and supporters through Fan Appreciation Day, an annual tradition taking place on the last home match of the regular season. Attendees can enjoy a wide variety of special activities both before and after the game, as well as an array of giveaways throughout the evening.

Sounders FC Season Ticket Members can peruse the annual Alliance Member Garage Sale before the match. This year’s sale takes place at The Ninety (406 Occidental Ave. S.) from 3:30-5:30 p.m. PT. The popular event gives Season Ticket Members the opportunity to buy exclusive Sounders FC gear, ranging from jerseys to training gear to promotional items, with some pieces not available in stores or to the general public. Items are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to three per Member. All proceeds from the Alliance Member Garage Sale benefit RAVE Foundation.

Outside the stadium before the game, all fans can stop by Occidental Square Park from 5:00-6:30 p.m. PT to enjoy SoundCheck, Sounders FC’s free pre-match programming held ahead of select home matches. SoundCheck provides free entertainment and activities for all ages in a festive, party-like atmosphere. This Saturday’s edition of SoundCheck includes music by Hi Crime, an indie pop band with bright female vocals and colorful instrumentation. In celebration of Fan Appreciation Day, select fans in attendance at SoundCheck will receive special Sounders FC giveaways.

Gates open at 6:00 p.m. PT on Saturday and fans wishing to take part in the Emerald City Supporters’ official March to Match are encouraged to join as SoundCheck wraps up, with the march departing Occidental Square Park at 6:30 p.m. PT on its way to Lumen Field.

Outside of the northwest gates are several fun, interactive activities in which fans can participate ahead of the match, including:

• A brightly wrapped Sounders FC Prius marks the spot for Western Washington Toyota Dealers, where a variety of Sounders prizes are available to win.

• Stop by the RAD Power Bikes setup to take a spin on an e-bike outside of the stadium, with those who complete a test ride entered to win a custom RAD power bike.

The evening’s gate giveaway, courtesy of Providence, includes 15,000 hand flags featuring the new Sounders FC crest and 10,000 thank you cards to fans featuring the new crest and information about Providence’s mental health pledge.

Once in the stadium, fans can take advantage of a free meet-and-greet opportunity with former Sounder Chad Marshall in the Northwest Concourse. Presented by Providence, the meet-and-greet offers fans the chance to receive an autograph and photo with Marshall in exchange for signing the Providence Mental Health Pledge, which asks signees to focus on their own mental health and take action to reduce the stigma of mental health care.

Marshall, one of the most beloved figures of the club’s MLS era, concluded a historic 16-year career in 2019 following a knee injury. During his time with Sounders FC and Columbus Crew SC, he won seven major trophies (MLS Cup – 2008, 2016; Supporters’ Shield – 2004, 2008, 2009, 2014; Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup – 2014), was named an MLS All-Star on four occasions (2009, 2010, 2014, 2015), placed on the MLS Best XI four times (2008, 2009, 2014, 2018) and is the only player in league history to win MLS Defender of the Year on three separate occasions (2008, 2009, 2014). No longer residing in the Seattle area, Marshall’s attendance at Saturday’s match offers local fans a rare opportunity to meet the club legend.

Those attending the game and looking for unique culinary options can try Sounders FC’s BIPOC and diverse-owned food truck and pop-up restaurants, presented by First & Goal Inc. and Levy. Curated by Intentionalist, these local small businesses align with Sounders FC’s social impact and cultural calendar, giving fans the opportunity to discover new culinary delights with food trucks in Lumen Field’s North Plaza and a pop-up restaurant location in Lumen Field’s PNW Marketplace concessions area, located in the east concourse outside of Section 113.

Saturday’s lineup celebrates Latinx Heritage Month and Indigenous Peoples’ Day, featuring Latinx and Native-owned businesses. The food truck on location is El Cabrito, owned and operated by Artemio Coria Diaz and his partner Leticia, offering made-from-scratch Oaxacan recipes. The PNW Marketplace features Native Soul, serving creative items like blue corn tamales, cedar-smoked salmon mac and cheese and Jamaican curry Navajo tacos created by chef Jeremy Thunderbird.

Sound Wave, Sounders FC’s percussion and brass spirit band, puts on an exciting pre-match performance for fans in the North Plaza at 6:20 p.m. PT.

Throughout the stadium, fans can explore and participate in a wide variety of activities, which on Wednesday include:

The Providence Challenge – Fans can test their soccer and mental skills through three different activities at The Providence Challenge, as well as having the opportunity to take the Providence Pledge to promise to better their mental health. All participating fans are entered to win an autographed Sounders FC jersey or a pair of tickets to an upcoming home match.

Crossbar Challenge, Presented by Western Washington Toyota Dealers – The first five fans to hit the crossbar in this interactive skills challenge earn a chance to take a kick on-field at halftime. If a fan hits a crossbar at halftime, Western Washington Toyota Dealers donates $1,000 to RAVE Foundation.

Protect the Net, Presented by American Family Insurance – Fans can put their skills to the test in this virtual goalkeeping game for a chance to take home some co-branded swag.

Sounders Penalty Kick – A digital activation where fans get five chances to score a goal against a virtual goalkeeper.

Soccer Skee-ball – This activation allows fans to play a soccer-themed version of Skee-Ball, kicking a ball down a ramp, rather than rolling it, in order to score as many points as possible.

Soccer Billiards – Fans can play a soccer-themed version of pool, challenging a partner and kicking colored soccer balls into the oversized pool table pockets before their opponent does.

RAVE 2026 Kick Experience – Learn about RAVE Foundation’s 26 Fields by 2026 campaign and attempt to kick a soccer ball through a hole.

• \\ FIFA Gaming Station –** Challenge an opponent to a friendly match of FIFA ’23.

Lumen Lens – This augmented reality photobooth places fans in photos with their favorite players.

• \\ Sit & Soccer –** A one-on-one table soccer game where fans attempt to outscore their opponent.

Scarves Up! Photo Activation – Raise a scarf and recreate the club’s iconic matchday moment in this new photobooth.

Sounders ‘Til I Die Instagram Wall – Themed photo opportunity for fans to grab the perfect social media shot.

Saturday’s national anthems, both American and Canadian, are being performed by vocalist Michael Sicoly, with the “Scarves Up!” moment led by the 2023 Sounders FC Fan of the Year winner.
