Sounders FC to co-host second annual Geekwire Sports Tech Summit at CenturyLink Field

CenturyLink North end

SEATTLE, WASH. – The second annual GeekWire Sports Tech Summit is set to take place June 21-22, co-hosted by Sounders FC and Eiger Marketing. Following a successful inaugural event at Safeco Field in 2016, this year’s summit is being held at CenturyLink Field to make room for an expanded number of attendees.

As technology’s effect on sports continues to grow, the GeekWire Sports Tech Summit exists to highlight the intersection of sports and technology by connecting guests with leading thinkers in data science, sports marketing, virtual reality, eSports, wearables and other unique industries. This year’s panel of speakers continues to grow and includes notable names such as NFL COO Tod Leiweke, League of Legends co-founder and co-managing owner of Los Angeles FC Brandon Beck, SeatGeek co-founder Russ D’Souza, ESPN’s John Clayton, LA Dodgers CFO Tucker Kain, Bleacher Report CEO Dave Finocchio and many more. Sounders FC High Performance Director Dave Tenney is also scheduled as a guest speaker, focusing on the club’s use of technology and sports analytics to gain a competitive edge.

“As a club devoted to technology and innovation, partnering with the GeekWire Sports Tech Summit in 2016 was a natural move,” said Sounders FC Owner Adrian Hanauer. “We are thrilled to continue that relationship this year, as the event returns to bring an even larger number of talented people together to share their ideas and passions in such an immersive, hands-on celebration of sports and technology.”

Attendees can engage in evening cocktail receptions, fireside chats, interactive panels, live demos and more, all designed to provide opportunities to hear from an array of leaders about industry advances that are driving sports technology and making a mark on fan and athlete experiences.

"The games we love to watch and play are being transformed by technology, and the GeekWire Sports Tech Summit will bring together leaders in industry to discuss what's ahead in sports in the next five to 10 years,” said GeekWire Co-Founder John Cook. “From eSports and virtual reality to sports science and in-stadium experiences, the GeekWire Sports Tech Summit will provide an immersive experience for attendees to connect with sports leaders, and learn the latest developments in sports tech.”

The two-day event kicks off on Wednesday, June 21, with a pre-party at CenturyLink Field where guests who purchased “Match + Summit” access can mingle and network before watching Sounders FC take on Orlando City SC at 7:30 p.m. PT.

On Thursday, June 22, the conference portion begins, providing guests with both unparalleled access to some of the top minds in sports tech, as well as invaluable networking opportunities in a completely unique environment.

The inaugural event in 2016 drew more than 300 attendees and featured engrossing discussions with industry professionals such as Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber and LA Clippers owner Steve Ballmer.

Those interested in attending the event can still register via GeekWire.com, with a limited number of tickets still available.
