RENTON, WASH. Sounders FC today announced that it has loaned forward Osaze De Rosario to Sønderjyske Fodbold of the Danish Superliga through June of 2027. De Rosario has seven goals in 45 appearances for Sounders FC since signing with the First Team in May of 2025, including a team-leading four strikes during the club’s title-winning Leagues Cup 2025 campaign. The deal includes a purchase option for Sønderjyske Fodbold, while Seattle retains a right of recall in January of 2027.

“When this came up, we sat down with Osaze and after a good conversation we all agreed that the impact of going to Sønderjyske and playing significant minutes was a great opportunity,” said Sounders FC General Manager & Chief Soccer Officer Craig Waibel. “He’s earned meaningful experience with our First Team over the past year and has shown he can contribute in important moments. This move provides Osaze the opportunity to compete consistently in a strong European league, and we believe that experience will be valuable as he continues to progress and upon his return to Sounders in the future.”

De Rosario, 25, has two goals and one assist for Sounders FC this year, all in MLS play. He is coming off a breakout 2025 where he scored five goals in all competitions after signing with the First Team on May 8, 2025. A standout during the Rave Green’s Leagues Cup 2025 championship run, he appeared in all six matches (three starts) and led the team with four goals – tied for second in the tournament – including the opening strike in Seattle’s 3-0 victory over Inter Miami CF in the final. De Rosario began 2025 with Tacoma Defiance, jumping out to a league-leading eight goals through the first five matches of the MLS NEXT Pro campaign. For his combined efforts with Seattle and Tacoma last season, De Rosario won the 2025 Pathway Player of the Year Award, a newly established honor recognizing a player who excelled in two or more leagues across MLS NEXT, MLS NEXT Pro and MLS. He originally joined the organization prior to the 2024 season, scoring six goals in 22 appearances (13 starts) as Defiance reached the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference Semifinals.

“Osaze has taken some really positive steps with our group, and we feel this loan comes at the right time for him,” said Sounders FC Head Coach Brian Schmetzer. “He’s grown a great deal over the last year, both as a player and as a professional, and this move gives him the opportunity to test himself in a new environment. We’re excited to see him take on that challenge and continue building on the progress he’s made here.”

Prior to his time with Tacoma, De Rosario played for York United FC of the Canadian Premier League from 2022-2023, recording 19 goals and six assists in 57 appearances (43 starts) across all competitions. He tallied 12 goals and four assists in league play in 2022, in addition to scoring against Pacific FC in the Canadian Championship. De Rosario added six goals and two assists in league play the following year, while also appearing in the Canadian Championship and Canadian Premier League Playoffs. Before joining York, the forward spent time in the academies of Toronto FC and New York City FC and had his first professional stint with Ukrainian side Rukh Lviv.

On the international stage, De Rosario has scored 10 goals in 11 appearances for Guyana. He most recently tallied a hat trick in a friendly against Belize (March 30, 2026) after making two appearances in FIFA World Cup 2026 Concacaf qualifying, including a goal against Montserrat (October 6, 2025). De Rosario also scored four goals in five appearances during the 2024-2025 Concacaf Nations League, highlighted by a hat trick against Barbados (November 20, 2024). He is the son of seven-time MLS All-Star and 2011 MLS MVP Dwayne De Rosario.

Following a 2-2 draw with Chicago Fire FC on Saturday, Sounders FC (7-9-5, 26 points) hosts Red Bull New York (7-10-5, 26 points) on Saturday, September 5 on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field (5:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
