Training Starfire

SEATTLE, WASH. – On Wednesday, December 6, as Sounders FC completes its final home training session of the 2017 season at Starfire Sports in Tukwila, Washington, the club, Starfire Sports and the City of Tukwila announce that they have once again joined together to invite fans to a championship sendoff for their MLS Cup-bound team.

The club travels to Toronto on Wednesday afternoon to finish its preparation for the 2017 MLS Cup, which provides an extraordinary opportunity to bring back-to-back championships to Seattle. Recognizing the important role that its fans play in the club’s success, and honoring the fact that the team is defending a Cup that belongs to the entire community, Sounders FC encourages its fans to attend this final day of training and send the team off with well wishes. As the proud home of the club’s training facility, Starfire Sports and the City of Tukwila have helped organize this sendoff event.

MEDIA NOTE: Wednesday’s previously scheduled training session and media availability times have changed. The team’s training session now begins at 9:30 a.m. PT, with media availability at approximately 10:45 a.m. PT. Sounders FC Head Coach Brian Schmetzer and forward Clint Dempsey are scheduled to speak to accredited press on Wednesday. Further personnel requests can be made through Sounders FC Communications. Additionally, the media parking area has shifted for Wednesday, with spaces available in the lots adjacent to Sounders FC’s locker room and the Starfire Sports athletic center. A map of the Starfire Sports campus can be found via the following link:

At 10:30 a.m. PT, fans in attendance may view the final 25 minutes of the day’s training session – scheduled to take place on Field 12 at Starfire Sports – before joining in cheers of support as players and coaches step off the training pitch and prepare to leave for their second consecutive MLS Cup berth. Please note that due to travel time constraints, fans are asked to refrain from seeking autographs and posed photos with players to ensure an expedited team departure to Toronto.

Fans arriving before 10:30 a.m. PT will be directed to gather in the parking area outside of Field 10 until the training session is opened for fan viewing. Space is limited in the practice viewing area and is available on a first-come, first-served basis, though there is plenty of space for all interested supporters to line the player walkway from the pitches to the locker room as the team heads inside.

Media outside of the club’s regular training coverage group who wish to attend the sendoff should RSVP with Alex Caulfield [] or Kelly Schutz [] of Sounders FC Communications.
