Sounders’ Jordan Morris to face ex-Stanford teammate, Fire defender Brandon Vincent

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris will face a familiar opponent on the Chicago Fire’s back line on Wednesday night (7:30 p.m. PT; JOEtv, ROOT Sports outside Seattle, KIRO 97.3FM, El Rey 1360AM): former Stanford teammate Brandon Vincent.

Morris and Vincent, who is a year older, led the Cardinal to the 2015 NCAA Mens’s Division I Men’s Soccer Championship, the first national title in program history.

While Morris has been setting records this season and leading the team in goals, Vincent was a 2016 MLS All-Star selection after being selected No. 4 in the MLS SuperDraft. He and Morris also competed together in February when Vincent recorded his first international cap in the United States’ 1-0 win over Canada.

Morris has 12 goals this season and four in his last four matches, including his first career brace in Seattle’s 4-2 win over the LA Galaxy last Sunday. Vincent has started 19 games for Chicago and is looking forward to the challenge of facing Morris.

“It’s exciting, I know he’s having a great year so far,” Vincent said of Morris to Chicago-fire.com, “so it will be good to be on the same field as him again, this time wearing different jerseys.

“We’re both busy, he’s busy with all his stuff here in Seattle,” he continued, “but we talked a little bit before and we’re excited to play each other.”
