Major League Soccer nominated Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei for MLS Save of the Week for Weeks 32 and 33, the league announced on Tuesday.
Frei made a full-extension stop on the Houston Dynamo’s Will Bruin last Wednesday in the teams’ scoreless draw at CenturyLink Field. Bruin’s shot from the top of the 18-yard-box looked to be heading into the far corner, but Frei got just enough of a touch on it to deflect it off the post and preserve the clean sheet.
Houston’s Joe Willis is also in the running after a double-stop on Sounders midfielder Erik Friberg.
