Martins to Dempsey for Open-Cup winning goal
A combination play between Obafemi Martins and Clint Dempsey created 14 goals in 2014. In extra time of the U.S. Open Cup Final, the pair took on three Philadelphia Union defenders, and Martins found Dempsey for the goal that secured Seattle’s first trophy of the year. Sounders FC won its fourth Open Cup in six years.
