The Uruguay national team has named Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro to its roster for the upcoming China Cup in Nanning. Lodeiro was named to the 27-man preliminary roster last week.
This is the third edition of the four-team tournament and Uruguay’s second consecutive appearance. La Celeste will take on Uzbekistan on March 22 and will take on either host China or Thailand in the second match on March 25.
Lodeiro has 58 caps with his last appearance coming on Sept. 7, 2018, in a 4-1 friendly win over Mexico. He had two assists in the Sounders’ MLS opener last weekend in a 4-1 win over FC Cincinnati and was named to the Team of the Week.
