WATCH: Nicolas Lodeiro wonder-volley gives the Seattle Sounders a late lead over the San Jose Earthquakes

The Seattle Sounders drew 1-1 with the San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium on Saturday after a Nicolas Lodeiro wonder-volley put Seattle ahead in the 85th minute.

Clint Dempsey was fouled at the top of the 18-yard-box and took the ensuing free kick, but his shot was deflected off the wall. Lodeiro, who was lined up to Dempsey’s right, reacted immediately and one-timed a left-footed volley past a helpless David Bingham in goal. The tally is Lodeiro’s second through five MLS regular-season matches in 2017.

Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski equalized in the 90th minute to cancel Lodeiro’s effort, but it earned the Sounders a crucial road point.
