COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

Bjornethun starred at Seattle U for four years, starting each of his 85 appearances, as he helped elevate the school into the national spotlight. As a freshman, the defender made a career-best 24 appearances and added two assists, earning WAC Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-WAC honors. In his sophomore campaign, Bjornethun earned First Team All-WAC and NSCAA Second Team All-West Region honors with 19 appearances, four goals and an assist. As a junior, the defender scored four goals in 23 matches, resulting in NSCAA Second Team All-American, NSCAA First Team All-West Region and First Team All-WAC selections, in addition to earning WAC Defender of the Year. In his fourth and final campaign as a Redhawk, he earned his second consecutive WAC Defender of the Year, third consecutive First Team All-WAC selection and was a member of the MAC Hermann Watch List.

PERSONAL

The son of Kirk and Leslie, Bjornethun has two older sisters, Stacia and Melanie. In his youth, Bjornethun competed for Eastside FC and Sounders FC Academy alongside Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris. He was an Engineering major at Seattle University. The Snohomish-native attended Glacier Peak High School and won the 2010 3A State Championship.
