2018 (New York City FC): He appeared in four matches for NYCFC in 2018, registering two assists. He was loaned to Phoenix Rising of the USL in August, where he helped lead the side to the championship match.
2017 (Sporting Kansas City): In his final season with Sporting Kansas City, Abdul-Salaam started 10 of 12 appearances, recording one goal and one assist. He scored his lone career goal in a 3-0 win vs. Minnesota (June 3).
2016 (Sporting Kansas City): Abdul-Salaam was named the 2016 Sporting Kansas City Defender of the Year after starting 26 of his 30 appearances and registering six assists, second on the team and a league-high for defenders.
2015 (Sporting Kansas City): In his rookie season in 2015 he started 10 of 15 appearances, recording 1,074 minutes, despite not making his first start until mid-July. He tallied one assist in a 3-2 loss at Columbus (August 22).
Abdul-Salaam played three seasons at Akron (2012-2014), recording three goals and 12 assists in 54 college games. He became a regular starter during his junior campaign in 2013, recording five assists in 19 starts. He earned All-MAC First Team honors in 2014 as a senior, notching two goals and a team-high six assists while starting all 21 games for the Zips.
Signed with Sounders FC on February 26, 2019 after the club acquired his rights from New York City FC in exchange for $50,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM).
