Career Summary

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2016 (Seattle): In his second professional season, Miller emerged as the primary backup goalkeeper behind Stefan Frei. He made his MLS debut in a 2-1 road loss versus Real Salt Lake (March 12). Miller earned his redemption against RSL in June, as Miller made eight saves in regulation and two more during the penalty-kick shootout in Seattle’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal win. With S2, Miller made 12 appearances and recorded 45 saves with a 1.25 GAA. 

2015 (S2): Miller signed with Sounders FC 2 on July 9 after a brief stint in Germany’s Fourth Division. After being drafted in the Second Round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft by Seattle, Miller signed with Germany’s SVN Zweibrücken in January. Upon returning to the Rave Green in the summer, Miller appeared in one match for the USL side. He recorded a shutout and made two saves in a 4-0 victory against Arizona United SC on July 12, before having successful thumb surgery on his right hand that ended his 2015 campaign.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Miller was invited to the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team Camp in 2011, and the U-18 National Team Camp in 2010.

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

In a four-year standout career at Northwestern University, Miller was a three-time All-Big 10 First Team selection, three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and the school’s all-time leader with 36 shutouts. As a senior in 2014, Miller led the Big Ten Conference in goals against average (0.56), save percentage (.853), and shutouts (9). A unanimous choice for 2014 Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year and the All-Big 10 First Team, Miller was named to the NSCAA All-Midwest Region First Team and All-America Second Team. He was also named to the 2014 Scholar All-America First Team—making him the only player in the nation to earn both All-America and Scholar All-America honors, plus an invite to the MLS Combine. As a junior, Miller gave up just 16 goals in 16 appearances, was tied for second in the Big 10 with eight shutouts, and ranked fourth in the conference with 3.69 saves per game and fifth with 59 saves. An Academic-All Big Ten Selection, Miller was named to the NSCA Great Lakes All-Region Second Team. As a sophomore, Miller started all 23 games and played every minute of the season (2,185). A First Team All-Big Ten selection, Miller posted a .730 save percentage and a 0.82 goals-against average, which ranked third in NU single-season history. In addition, his 10 shutouts ranked third in school history, as the school captured its second-straight regular season conference title. In his freshman campaign, Miller started all 19 of his appearances, finishing the season with a 0.86 goals against average, .746 save percentage and nine shutouts. Miler was named to the big Ten All-Tournament Team and was named the Defensive Player of the Tournament en route to winning the conference title. The two-time Big Ten Player of the Week selection was named First-Team All-Big Ten and was a unanimous selection for the All-Freshman Team. He was named to the College Soccer News All-Freshman list, and was a second-team member of the All-Great Lakes Region squad.

YOUTH EXPERIENCE

A four-year letter-winner at Bishop Eustace High School, the two-time All-State and four-time All-Conference selection holds the school record for most appearances. Miller played for Pittsgrove SC, where he was the club’s captain for two years.
