Sounders FC Bids Farewell To Electricity

Tonight when the Sounders FC hosts Monterrey in their final match of the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League, it will likely be the last time they will wear their "electricity" third kits.

After they first donned the bright yellow kits in a 3-1 win over Boca Juniors in a friendly at CenturyLink Field on May 26, 2010, the Sounders have played 25 matches wearing electricity, going 14-8-3.

Primarily used for friendly matches, the US Open Cup and the CONCACAF Champions League, the third kit also made an appearance in a 3-2 win over the Portland Timbers at JELD-WEN Field and a scoreless draw with the LA Galaxy at the Home Depot Center this season in its only MLS appearances.  It was also on the field for both US Open Cup titles that were won in its tenure as the third kit.

Seattle was 2-2-0 in friendly matches in electricity.  They were 7-0-1 in the Open Cup and 4-6-1 in the Champions League.

Sounders FC will unveil a new third kit for use beginning in the 2012 season.
