Rumble at the Ridge

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. - On Monday, August 20 several members of Seattle Sounders FC teamed up with Seattle Seahawks Ring of Honor inductees, NFL Hall of Famers, local and national sports figures, athletes, and celebrities at the 2012 Rumble at the Ridge golf tournament at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge.

The annual event that kicks off Boeing Classic week brings together individuals from the sport and entertainment industries to “tee it up” for charity. Groups of four were paired with one celebrity for a friendly day of golf competition.

Representing Sounders FC at the event were forwards Fredy Montero and Eddie Johnson, midfielder Brad Evans, defenders Marc Burch and Jeff Parke, goalkeeper Bryan Meredith, broadcast announcer Ross Fletcher, and broadcast analyst Kasey Keller.

“The course was amazing,” said Burch. “I had a really nice group. I got to meet some of the suppliers for the Boeing planes. It’s interesting hearing about what they do with Boeing being such a big part of this city. It’s really nice to get to know some people outside of your profession.”

Parke shared the same sentiments as his fellow defender.

“It was awesome,” Parke said. “It was fun getting out there and playing with and talking with different people and seeing some of the studs that used to play here in Seattle in football. It was cool to see Ricky Watters and Lynn Swann and a couple other big names.

“I got to chat with a couple different people that I probably would never have the chance to talk to because they’re from different places. So you get to run into people that you don’t know and talk to them and feel them out a bit. It was cool.”

All proceeds from the Rumble at the Ridge go on to benefit the Nutrition and Fitness for Life Program at Virginia Mason Medical Center, A Better Seattle, and additional programs supported by Virginia Mason.

Round one of the Boeing Classic tees off on Friday, August 24. The event runs through the weekend with the championship round coming on Sunday, August 26 at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge.
