A dominating defensive effort for Sounders FC earned Djimi Traore the weekly honor from MLSsoccer.com.
For the fourth time in the 2013 season, Djimi Traore has been named to the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week, this time after a stifling defensive performance in a 3-0 win over FC Dallas on Saturday.
He takes over the team lead for Team of the Week appearances from forward Lamar Neagle, who was named to the team in three out of five weeks earlier this season.
Seattle’s smothering defense kept Dallas without a shot on goal for the match as Sounders FC charged to a nine-match home unbeaten streak.
Traore was joined on Team of the Week by goalkeeper Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake); defenders Victor Bernardez (San Jose Earthquakes) and Doneil Henry (Toronto FC); midfielders Lloyd Sam (New York Red Bulls), Matias Laba (Toronto FC), Boniek Garcia (Houston Dynamo) and Jonny Steele (New York Red Bulls); and forwards Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Conor Doyle (DC United) and Luis Silva (DC United).
Eddie Johnson and Brad Evans were among the seven players listed as honorable mention.
