Rave Report: Dempsey and Schmid make MLS Team of the Week

For the second time in three weeks, Clint Dempsey and Sigi Schmid were named to the Team of the Week as Dempsey scored two goals to lead Sounders FC to its third consecutive victory with a 4-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday.

Dempsey earned his third Team of the Week honor in the month of April as he scored in the 47th and 52nd minutes to give Seattle a 3-0 lead over the Rapids, also propelling Dempsey to the top of the league charts with eight goals in just six matches this season.

Sounders FC is now 3-0-1 in its last four matches, marking the third straight year that Seattle has gone unbeaten in the month of April.

Dempsey and Schmid were joined on the Team of the Week by goalkeeper Steve Clark (Columbus Crew); defenders Hassoun Camara (Montreal Impact), Clarence Goodson (San Jose Earthquakes), Andrew Farrell (New England Revolution) and Roy Miller (New York Red Bulls); midfielders Teal Bunbury (New England Revolution), Patrice Bernier (Montreal Impact) and Yannick Djalo (San Jose Earthquakes); and forwards Fabian Espindola (D.C. United) and Bradley Wright-Phillips (New York Red Bulls), who was named MLS Player of the Week after netting a hat trick in a mid-week victory over the Houston Dynamo and adding another goal in a 1-1 draw with the Crew on Saturday.

Obafemi Martins was listed on the bench for the Team of the Week after scoring his third goal of the season to go with a league-best four assists.

Sounders FC's representatives on Team of the Week have been:
Week 1: DeAndre Yedlin
Week 3: Djimi Traore
Week 5: Clint Dempsey
Week 6: Clint Dempsey, Sigi Schmid
Week 7: Obafemi Martins, Chad Marshall
Week 8: Clint Dempsey, Sigi Schmid

On Monday, Sounders FC moved its business operations from the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, which it shared with the Seattle Seahawks, to its own downtown office in Pioneer Square. The team's practice facility and team operations remain at Starfire in Tukwila.

After winning Goal of the Week honors last week, Martins is up for the honor again this week after his goal on Saturday against the Rapids. Vote for the Seattle forward here.
