Sounders FC receives allocation money in Neagle trade with D.C. United

Lamar Neagle 151207

SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC today announced that it has traded midfielder Lamar Neagle to D.C. United in exchange for general allocation money and targeted allocation money (TAM). Per MLS and club policy, additional terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.

“We want to wish Lamar every success with D.C. United as he takes the next step in his career,” said Sounders FC General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey. “Lamar has been a dedicated member of our team and an active participant in our community, making a difference throughout the Puget Sound region with his philanthropic work. As we move into the offseason these types of challenging personnel decisions are required, and the resources we are receiving in today’s trade give us further flexibility to enhance our roster for 2016.”

Neagle, 28, is tied for third in Sounders FC history with 26 goals scored in 116 MLS regular season appearances, spanning three separate stints with the club. He tallied four goals and two assists in 31 MLS appearances this past season after registering career-highs with nine goals and nine assists in 2014. The Federal Way-native was also named the 2013 Sounders FC Humanitarian of the Year.

Sounders FC begins its preseason preparation for the 2016 campaign next month before the club takes part in a pair of Desert Friendlies in Tucson against Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the Portland Timbers in early February. Additional preseason details will be announced in the weeks ahead.
