Dec. 10 will be “Seattle Sounders FC Spirit Day” in Tukwila, home of Starfire Sports

Saturday, Dec. 10 will officially be known as “Seattle Sounders FC Spirit Day” in Tukwila, Wash.

Tukwila Mayor Allan Ekberg issued the proclamation on Monday ahead of the Sounders’ first appearance in MLS Cup on Dec. 10 (5 p.m. PT; FOX, TSN, UniMas, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM), when Seattle will take on Toronto FC at BMO Field in Ontario, Canada.

Tukwila is a town of 20,000 people located 11 miles southeast of CenturyLink Field and is home to Starfire Sports, where the Sounders train and the technical staff has offices. The Sounders have spent their entire MLS existence as well as parts of their USL days at Starfire.

“The community of Tukwila strongly supports our hometown team, Seattle Sounders FC, and wish them success in bringing home the first ever MLS Cup to Washington State,” said Ekberg in the release.

The City of Tukwila encourages the community to support the Sounders and urges its citizens to wear Sounders apparel and colors.
