The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced on Wednesday that it has suspended Seattle Sounders defender Roman Torres for one match and fined him an undisclosed amount for violent conduct in the 37th minute of the Sounders’ 2-2 draw with the Montreal Impact last Saturday.
Torres, who kicked Ambroise Oyongo in the leg after the play, will serve his suspension in the Sounders’ home opener against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday, March 19 (4 p.m. PT; FS1, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS).
Torres has started each of Seattle’s first two matches and played 175 of 180 minutes. Center back Tony Alfaro will likely slot in and play next to Chad Marshall in the middle of the back line.
