There's no doubt we're in an amazing time in Seattle sports right now as your Sounders are the 2016 MLS Cup Champions and the Seahawks recently took home Super Bowl XLVIII, but the Emerald City has been a championship town for exactly 100 years.
On Sunday,
the city of Seattle celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Seattle Metropolitans
defeating the Montreal Canadiens to win the 1917 Stanley Cup becoming the first American team to take home the championship. The Metropolitans only lasted nine seasons folding in 1924, but they'll forever be immortalized on one of the greatest trophies in sports.
