When the Seattle Sounders take on the LA Galaxy on Sunday at StubHub Center (1 p.m. PT; ESPN, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM), LA will boast a new offensive asset.
The Galaxy on Tuesday acquired forward Jack McInerney, who was waived by the Portland Timbers on March 1. McInerney, 24, has 43 goals in 167 regular-season MLS appearances for the Philadelphia Union, Montreal Impact, Columbus Crew SC and the Timbers.
“Jack is a young and experienced player in MLS who has shown that he can score goals in this league,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Pete Vagenas. “He will give our team valuable depth at the forward position throughout the season. We look forward to Jack joining the team this week ahead of Sunday’s game.”
McInerney started and went 78 minutes against the Sounders on Aug. 21 last season in Portland’s 3-1 loss at CenturyLink Field.
