NEW YORK (May 11, 2017) – Major League Soccer has determined that a case of mistaken identity took place in the match between Seattle Sounders FC and Toronto FC on Saturday, May 6.
Sounders FC midfielder Ozzie Alonso was mistakenly issued a yellow card instead of Sounders FC midfielder Jordy Delem in the 46th minute of the game.
As a result, the yellow card issued to Alonso has been removed and retroactively issued to Delem.
The mistakenly issued yellow card would be Delem’s second yellow card of the match, resulting in Delem being suspended for Seattle’s next match, May 13 against the Chicago Fire and issued an undisclosed fine.
