When RSL takes on the Seattle Sounders this Saturday (2 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Univision, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM | TICKETS), Rimando will take on the second-highest active leader in shutouts, saves, appearances and minutes, and third-highest active leader in wins: Stefan Frei.
Real Salt Lake’s Nick Rimando is the all-time Major League Soccer leader in nearly every statistical goalkeeping category. Frei has 48 shutouts, 643 saves, 191 appearances and 17,075 minutes, all second behind Rimando. The Sounders goalkeeper is ahead of Bill Hamid in shutouts (44) and saves (585), and Sean Johnson in appearances (187) and minutes (16,806).
Frei is the third-highest active leader in regular season wins (70) behind Luis Robles (71), although Frei has 77 total wins in the regular season and postseason to Robles’ 76.
