SEAvHOU 101: Everything you need to know when the Sounders host the West-leading Dynamo

The Seattle Sounders are hosting the Houston Dynamo on Sunday in their second meeting of the season. Here is everything you need to know about the match:




WHEN AND WHERE: Kickoff is at 7 p.m. PT at CenturyLink Field.


WHERE TO WATCH: The game will be televised on JOEtv, Univision and ROOT Sports (outside Seattle).


WHERE TO LISTEN: The game will air on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM and in Spanish on El Rey 1360AM.


2017 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 4-6-4 (16 points, 8th place West), Dynamo: 7-5-2 (23 points, 1st place West).


ALL-TIME HISTORY: The Sounders are 5-4-6 all time against the Dynamo, including a 5-0-2 mark at home.


RECENT RESULTS: Houston defeated Seattle 2-1 in the 2017 season-opener behind goals from Erick “Cubo” Torres and Romell Quioto. Clint Dempsey scored the lone goal for the Sounders.


ROAD WOES: The Dynamo are one of four MLS teams that have yet to win on the road. The Dynamo are a commanding and undefeated 7-0-1 at home, but have picked up just one point in six tries (0-5-1) away from BBVA Compass Stadium and have been outscored 14-3.


REMICK RETURNS: Former Seattle Sounders defender and 2016 MLS Cup champion Dylan Remick will make his first trip back to CenturyLink Field as a member of the opposition. Remick has scored once in five starts for Houston this season.


RSL ROUT: The Dynamo are coming off a resounding 5-1 romp of Real Salt Lake on Wednesday. Houston took the lead just three minutes in on own goal and then added four more from Alex, Mauro Manotas, Torres and Leonardo.



MR. 100: Dynamo midfielder Alex earned his 100th MLS start on Wednesday and scored his first goal of the season to go along with his seven assists.


CUBO CONUNDRUM: The Sounders will need to contain Dynamo forward Cubo Torres, who has a team-leading 10 goals and 42 shots on the season. He scored in the first match these two sides played back in March and has three goals in his last five games.


THIRD STRAIGHT AT CENTURYLINK? Seattle is searching for its third consecutive home victory on Sunday after defeating RSL and the Portland Timbers in back-to-back weeks. The Sounders have never lost to the Dynamo in Seattle.


ON THE REBOUND: The Sounders will look to avenge their 3-0 midweek loss at Columbus Crew SC on Wednesday, the second of three matches in eight days. Defender Chad Marshall rested and did not travel, while Brad Evans (rest) and Harry Shipp (hip flexor strain) were also held out of the starting lineup.


SEYI STARTS, NOUHOU DEBUTS: Rookie forward Seyi Adekoya made his first MLS start against Columbus, while defender Nouhou checked in as a second-half substitute to mark his MLS debut.


INTERNATIONAL ABSENCES: Sounders forwards Dempsey and Jordan Morris, who are currently with the United States national team, missed Wednesday’s match and will also be away for Sunday’s match against Houston. The U.S. will host Venezuela in a friendly on June 3 before playing Matchdays 5 and 6 of CONCACAF 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying on June 8 against Trinidad and Tobago in Commerce City, Colo., and June 11 against Mexico at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
