Major League Soccer has named Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey and head coach Brian Schmetzer to its Week 19 Team of the Week.
Dempsey scored twice and added an assist in the Sounders’ 3-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday night. Dempsey’s golazo of a second goal is nominated for AT&T Goal of the Week and is his team-leading seventh tally of the season.
Schmetzer earns his first Coach of the Week nod after leading a Sounders side depleted with injuries, international call-ups and suspensions to their second road win of the season.
The Sounders will host German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in an international friendly on Saturday (12 p.m. PT; JOEtv, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM) before returning to MLS play on July 19 at home against D.C. United.
