MLS has nominated Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei for Week 25’s Save of the Week for his denial of the Portland Timbers’ Diego Valeri on Sunday.
Valeri received a cross in the 28th minute, brought it off his chest and had a golden chance to make it 3-0 before Frei made himself big and pawed it away strongly with his left hand. The Sounders lost 4-2, but Frei was massive all match, recording four key saves to keep Seattle in the game.

The other six nominees are the Colorado Rapids’ Tim Howard, the San Jose Earthquakes’ David Bingham, D.C. United’s Bill Hamid, Orlando City SC’s Joe Bendik, San Jose Earthquakes’ Andrew Tarbell and Sporting Kansas City’s Alec Kann.
