Clint Dempsey set to make 100th MLS regular-season appearance for the Seattle Sounders

Clint Dempsey vs. Rapids 2017-07-07

With his next MLS appearance, forward Clint Dempsey will reach 100 career regular-season games for the Seattle Sounders. This benchmark could come as soon as Sunday, when the Sounders host FC Dallas at CenturyLink Field (4:30 p.m. PT / FS1, FOX Deportes, KIRO 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS) and Head Coach Brian Schmetzer expects Dempsey to be available for selection.

As Dempsey closes in on the century benchmark, it represents another achievement for one of the most prolific players in club history. He'll become the 10th player in Sounders history to reach 100 career MLS matches, and just the second forward.

Notably, the 34-year-old from Nacogdoches, Texas, sits just one goal shy of Fredy Montero to become Seattle’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Here is where Dempsey ranks in club history for the following categories:

Appearances: 99 (10)
Starts: 89 (8)
Goals: 46 (2)
Assists: 25 (3)
Shots: 380 (2)
Shots on goal: 380 (2)
Hat tricks: 2 (1)

Dempsey signed with Seattle in August 2013 after previously playing for Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham of England’s Premier League. He played for the New England Revolution for three seasons before his trade to Europe. Dempsey ranks in a tie with Landon Donovan for most goals with the U.S. National Team with 57.
