Seattle Sounders advance to No. 9 in MLS Power Rankings as unbeaten run hits eight matches

Make that eight straight matches unbeaten for the Seattle Sounders, a run that has pushed them to the brink of the final Western Conference playoff spot and to No. 9 in the latest MLSSsoccer.com Power Rankings. They moved up one spot from last week’s rankings.


The Sounders defeated Western Conference-leading FC Dallas 2-1 last Sunday and have tied a franchise record with five consecutive wins.


Seattle hosts the LA Galaxy on Saturday (1 p.m. PT; ESPN, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS) in a massive six-point fixture with Sigi Schmid’s side sitting at fourth in the West.
