It's well-documented that Macklemore is a big fan of Seattle.
The 36-year-old rapper grew up in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of the Emerald City, attended Garfield High School and started his career in small, local venues. His lyrics often pay homage to his hometown, even now as a Grammy-winning, Billboard-topping artist.
In August, Macklemore joined a dozen Seattle families in the Sounders new Ownership Group, which he mentions in his verse for Travis Thompson's new single "Glass Ceiling." Thompson is a 23-year-old rapper from Burien, Wash. who has gone on tour with Macklemore.
In the song, Macklemore raps:
Whole league getting rowdy
With six teams that the city can be proud of
Now the deal's been inked
Me, the owner of the Sounders
