Seattle supports from home while Sounders FC takes on Los Angeles FC in Western Conference Championship

civic activations

As Sounders FC prepares to battle LAFC for the Western Conference Championship, the Seattle area continues its playoff support at home in the Puget Sound. A variety of civic activations are scheduled to take place throughout today’s matchday as the Emerald City “goes green” for its MLS club.

COMMUNITY ACTIVATIONS

  • All Washington State Ferries sailing into and out of Colman Dock on Bainbridge and Bremerton routes on Tuesday, October 29 are flying Sounders FC flags.
  • Seattle Aquarium is using Sounders FC soccer balls and other team items in animal enrichment activities on Tuesday, October 29, sharing images via the institution’s social media accounts, @SeattleAquarium.
  • Pike Place Market, one of Seattle’s most iconic and well-trafficked locations, proudly displays its support for Sounders FC as Market celebrity Rachel the Piggy Bank dons a Sounders FC scarf on Tuesday, October 29.

Sounders fans are encouraged to help bring good fortune to the Rave Green by stopping in to take advantage of the area legend that promises luck to those who rub Rachel’s snout and make a wish.

All donations to the Market Piggy Banks support services in Pike Place Market, so fans can give to a good cause while bringing luck to Sounders FC and capturing one-of-a-kind Seattle photographs.

LIGHTING ACTIVATIONS

  • The Allen Institute, founded by late Sounders FC owner and Seattle icon Paul Allen, lights green on match night, Tuesday, October 29.
  • The 520 Bridge will light its sentinels Rave Green in support of the club on Tuesday, October 29.
  • Columbia Center and its crown lighting will glow green in support of Sounders FC on Tuesday, October 29.
  • The Seattle Great Wheel is lighting the waterfront Rave Green on Tuesday, October 29.
  • CenturyLink Field and its recognizable arches are scheduled to light Rave Green on Tuesday, October 29.

Following its decisive 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake last Wednesday evening in the Western Conference Semifinals, Sounders FC continues its 11th consecutive postseason campaign tonight, facing first-seeded LAFC at Banc of California Stadium (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN, ESPN Deportes, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). The match follows this year’s new playoff formatting, which features three rounds consisting of one single-elimination game each. Should Seattle advance on Tuesday, it would face the winner of Atlanta United and Toronto FC in MLS Cup.
